Earth Contamination And Global Warming; If We Were A Responsible Race Where Would We Be?

No Comments// Posted in Previous TTMYT Articles by TTMYT on 09.28.09.

Current evidence shows that we are causing harm to the planet we all call home. Can this be true? Let’s say global warming in no way can be caused by anything we do as human’s. The fact remains that we are not being responsible for our self created messes!

Don’t you think personal responsibility applies to everything we do?

As humans, we all produce waste that has nothing to do with bodily functions. Look at every other living thing on this planet. What do they waste? Do they have it in their nature to waste? All this waste produced has to go somewhere.

Who’s responsibility is it to make sure the waste is handled?

In the United States we pay taxes and we pay for all or most of the items we consume or use. As consumers we can only do so much to recycle and sort waste. Why do manufactures create items that can not be recycled? How about profits and convenience for the producer and consumer? As part of the cost of production is it the manufacture’s responsibility to clean up the long term waste mess? How would they track down all their products after the consumers are done with them? Maybe it should be the waste companies responsibility? What about the government? Can they control these things?

Everything that is manufactured or made can only be done with ingredients you find on this planet. So everything we make should have some way to be broken back down into it’s naturally occurring elements or ingredients. This can happen naturally or scientifically by reverse engineering. Maybe the question should be directed to the manufacture of these specific products that cause intolerable pollutants while being made? If for some reason it can’t be disassembled why make it? It’s much cheaper to pile it up and let it rot then to break it down. Let’s say we try an experimental plan to break down waste that will not naturally decompose. It would cost a nice chunk of cash initially, but after the process is perfected how much would it cost to sustain this process? It’s the same with keeping your home clean or staying healthy. Normal maintenance is much easier than cleaning up your mess once a month or curing a preventable disease. At what cost are we doing damage to the planet and ourselves?

There are many factors that contribute to waste and actions we do that harm ourselves and others. Is it in our nature to want it all? Do we all want “stuff” and then “new stuff”? Lack of knowledge was certainly a factor decades and century’s ago. Do we now possess the knowledge to understand a viable solution? Can we prevent and possibly reverse past blunders?

Is “Going Green” going to be a way of life or is it going to be another fad?

There is another article on this site about personal responsibility in health care (Click Here To View).

Follow The Leader; Everyone Shares Similar Human Behavior Even Though You May Think You Don’t!

No Comments// Posted in Previous TTMYT Articles by TTMYT on 09.14.09.

Your handing out flyer’s for an event and you notice a trend. You will get the random taker, but if you get a rush of people and the first person takes the flyer almost everyone behind that person will take that flyer.

You are a tour guide and when people are getting off the bus the first person tips and so then does every other person behind this initial tipper. On another trip the first person doesn’t tip and so only a few random people tip.

Why?

Many ideas come to mind and I’m not a psychologist, but the question is right in front of me; “Why are these people suddenly taking my handout or tipping?”

  • Was it because the person in front of you took it? Subconsciously, do you now need that same hand out to make sure your not missing something. This must be something I need!
  • Why tip? Guilt? You don’t want to be the one person that doesn’t?

All of us follow patterns whether we like it or not. Yes… some of you will be saying to yourself you don’t follow these patterns, but in some way or in some place you will. Let’s say you’re at a convention that you can’t wait to attend and they are giving away a bag at the door. Everyone that is going through the entrance is taking the bag… you will take it. You may open it to find only advertisements…. but you still took it.

Why do we follow the leader? Why take that handout? Why do we mimic the behavior of those before us? What do you think? do you have scientific proof or a hunch?

My Way; Have You Lived It?

No Comments// Posted in Previous TTMYT Articles by jamie on 09.01.09.

Frank Sinatra said, ” I did it my way”… “Regrets, I have a few”.

  • Do you do it your way and make the most of your time?
  • Do you feel like you have missed out on your calling?
  • How many people in this world never really accomplish what they saw themselves doing at a younger age?
  • How many people never really know what they want until later in life and then never go over it because they think they are too old?

The questions can continue, but do they need to? I assume you get the point. I have always been against the norm and have had dreams of grandure.

It will take time to reach most dreams, but you need to hold on to one. Live your life as you need to in order to survive, but make sure you are also doing something that pushes you one step closer to whatever your dream is. If you see an opportunity to make your dream a reality… take it… don’t hesitate. Many dreams are lived by taking a risk or grabbing hold of a short window of opportunity.

Where is your life? Do you have a dream? Are you living it? If not… Do you see yourself living it?

Rested And More Knowledgeable; A Learning Vacation

No Comments// Posted in Previous TTMYT Articles by Linda on 08.26.09.

I don’t know about you, but when I take time off I want to return from my vacation, not only rested and rejuvenated physically, but also more knowledgeable and full of new ideas and perspectives.  I love nature, so part of my vacation has to be outside.  Puffy white clouds, blue skies, warm breezes, the sounds of water, birds chirping….just lovely.  What’s not to like!

I Just returned from San Francisco and I was at the ocean everyday.  One particular favorite place…Fort Funston in San Francisco.  It’s a glorious dog park right on the Pacific with handgliders above your head and dogs frollicking on the beach.  Spectacular!  I’ve been to beach resorts, to Europe, Disneyland (and DisneyWorld), you name it…  BUT my all time favorite vacation is to a place called the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, New York (www.ciweb.org).

My cousin Michael Crosby wrote a description of Chautauqua :

“Chautauqua is a rare retreat tucked off the beaten path in southwestern New York where people interested in life and learning congregate each summer in a quaint, front-porch and friendly community to share and savor a smorgasbord of delights for the mind, body and soul.  At Chautauqua the arts and letters literally full the air in a relaxing lakeside setting as people stroll the charming grounds to chat or enjoy great lectures, lessons and music from all over.  Come step away from the madness of modern life and take time to think and play in the rejuvenating atmosphere of Chautauqua.”

It’s this and more.  Every week is a different theme. I was there for a week in July when the theme was “State of Mind”.  Lectures in the morning included Kay Jamison speaking about her bestseller” The Unquiet Mind” and John Ratey author of numerous books on the importance of exercise and play for keeping the brain healthy.  Afternoon lectures included Elizabeth Lesser cofounder of the Omega Institue.  There’s a musical performance every evening in the beautiful open air Amphitheater, plays, classes, dance, art….what else could anyone want?

I’m headed back there next week. The theme is “”Imagine…”  a week on boosting your creativity.  Daniel Pink author of a fabulous book “A Whole New Mind” will be one of the morning lectures.  And one of my favorite people, Jan Chittister, author of “Scarred by Struggle; Transformed by Hope” (very applicable today).  I will jog, bike, breathe fresh air by the gorgeous lake, take a class on analyzing my dreams and one called “Everyday  Problems, Extraordinary Solutions”.  I’ll listen to the music of Creedence Clearwater Rivival emanating from the Amphitheater under the stars in the evening, and I’ll return feeling healthier and full of new ideas and possiblities.  I truly believe if everyone allowed themselves this gift every year their lies would be fuller and happier.

If you haven’t had this type of vacation you need to give it a try!

Exposure Always Leads To Similar Habits

1 Comment// Posted in Previous TTMYT Articles by jamie on 08.25.09.

Those around you have habits just as you have your own habits.

Everyone picks up their habits from life in general, but many of these habits are picked up from others around them. You will notice that even unrelated people that spend time together in work, as friends, or when living together will start to use similar phrases and mannerisms. If someone says, “awesome” or “dude” all the time the others that live with or are around this person will notice themselves saying, “awesome” or “dude” more often.

I’m sure your nodding your head right now.

Have you experienced this behavior? What do you say these days that you have picked up from others?

When Is Having Enough Not Going To Be Enough?

1 Comment// Posted in Previous TTMYT Articles by TTMYT on 08.20.09.

You’re not rich…. you don’t live in a huge house or a house at all, but you have a nice place… your nice on the eyes… your in great health… you reach goals and live / work your dream for a living… you have the wedding you want with the people you want… you eat the food you want… you have great friends and family… and I can go on and on…

BUT YOU WANT MORE

It’s natural to want a better life than you have. Even if you have it all… “When do you stop and take some time to enjoy what you have?” Am I saying to just sit around and never dream or grow? Absolutely not!

How many people, which most likely includes you, do you know that are always pushing for more? Burning the candle at both ends? Are they after material possessions or something intangable? Does all this stress equate to a positive result or outcome? Are you sacraficing for a greater good or just a better car?

Do you talk about all the stress you have, problems you have, how burnt out you are, that your always tired, and what’s physically wrong with you?

Are you nodding your head?

If you are nodding your head you need to realize it’s ok to take a break and enjoy what you have accomplished and have. This “break” can last a day, week, or month. I’m not saying you should stop your life, but turn that switch off in your brain that allows all of these things to control your day and life. Slap yourself around… Tell yourself that what I have right now is great and I’m ok with where I am for the next few months, rest of they year, or whatever that time is. Not easy I know, but the stress is killing you… literally. Your shortening your life and your good looks!

What it comes down to is balence. You can’t do it all, control it all, and good things rarley come easy, but as my mother mentioned to me a few weeks ago… “You will look back and wonder where all the time went!” Did you enjoy that time? Are you happy with the outcome?

Maybe you need to stop and just smile and have some ice cream!

Can you do it?

Education Will Never Guarantee Success… Or Will It?

3 Comments// Posted in Previous TTMYT Articles by TTMYT on 08.17.09.

Everyone has a different vision of success. Some measure it in dollars, others measure it with accomplishments, and still others consider success by reaching goals you set for yourself.

Depending on your definition, you will find many factors that contribute to people’s success, but you will notice that most people that really excel will not contribute their education as the main reason to their success. College and post college will prepare you for many things, but you see more and more that graduate from a top tier school that can’t get jobs or are locked into stale jobs with average pay.

Yes, you go to college to learn, but what I took away from college was life experience, connections, and a few really good friends… Oh yeah… Fun too!

I have read many books on success and have realized that there are many factors and decisions that “successful” people will give as their road to success. You will find that education in a specific field was NOT the overwhelming answer. I’m not saying education is not important, but what I am saying is that it guarantees nothing and will most likely NOT lead you to wealth. The connections you make… maybe… but not the education.

Here’s a short list of a few commonalities I made by reading these success stories:

  • Many, if not most, that have succeed in business have failed many times before learning enough through experience to succeed.
  • Right place at the right time. Seeing an opportunity present itself and realizing, for a brief moment, that an opportunity is right in front of you. Realization is much more important than understanding what this opportunity may bring. In fact, it has been said that many successful people can sense an opportunity and they don’t fully understand what is in front of them until later… BUT they act on it.
  • Every successful person acts instead of makes excuses of why not to act. There are a ton of great ideas out there. In fact, you have had some yourself, BUT 99.9% of people never act on these opportunities. Take this article and this site; Thoughts That Make You Think. I had an idea and a concept. It took me 2 years to decide that it was time to start this site. After committing my time and energy into it it happened! I had no idea where to start or how to get it off the ground. It has been a learning process, but I did it and we are improving everyday!

I can continue to go on and on as I have many personal experiences and have read over 25 books and autobiographies. Instead, why don’t you share your experience, thoughts, and insight on this topic.

Does education play any part in success? Is college a life lesson or an expensive bill? You all know someone who has made big bucks with little to no education… why can’t this be you? Are you successful if you set a goal and accomplish it?

The big daddy question is, ” What is success and how do you measure it?” As a follow-up, ” Are you planning on being successful under your own definition?”

Rules For The Road To Health Care Reform

1 Comment// Posted in Previous TTMYT Articles by TTMYT on 08.11.09.

Let’s be a bit more rational about health care reform shall we?. Much cooler heads should prevail! A little common sense will go a long way in this debate.

First, we must establish and agree on some basic facts. Ask yourself, with the current spiral of health care costs, is the path we are on sustainable? The answer to that question is pretty clear. Health care costs are spiraling through the roof! Can we agree on that point? Great!

Let’s just say that other than a few extremists with their own agendas the above is fairly understood as FACT. That means the health care system is broken and doesn’t really work very well.

I have personally watched as my premiums went from $312.00 per month up to $625.00 in the blink of an eye. I watched as my diabetic wife received medications priced out at anywhere from $1,500.00 to $3,000.00 PER MONTH! Sorry folks, no matter how I try, I cannot see that as a good health care working model.

Heard the phrase,” If it’s broken, fix THE DANG THING”? Duh! So let’s stop fighting and start fixing! I expect more out of my fellow Americans than the childish fear mongering crap I see coming out of these town hall meetings! We are better as a people than what has been demonstrated in some of those meetings! Some of the behavior looks like children in a sandbox fighting over a pail. Cut it out! Grow up already!

The really odd thing to me is that those yelling loudest are folks that stand to gain a ton of goodness out of what is currently being proposed. What the hell is wrong with having the government (only entity large enough to stand up to the out of control health care lobby) to offer an alternative plan to force the insurance companies to compete? The very competition the government would offer is the thing that will drive YOUR PREMIUMS down should you have a plan you are pleased with. Folks ranting and raving saying things not based in truth and why? Is it because they are afraid that with a little competition their own rates might actually come down? Their prescriptions might cost less? Let me remind you. “Competition” IS American!

Here’s a novel idea, what if the government plan is actually cheaper and with more protections written into it than the one you currently have? (That is part of the government proposal i.e. no pre-existing condition refusal etc.)

Why do you think the insurance lobby is fighting so hard to see reform defeated? Use your heads please! Do any of you seriously believe the folks that run the industry have suddenly become benevolent? That they care about you? Wake up! They care about squeezing every last dollar they can out of you. If it financially ruins you, so what? Their CEO’s will still live large no matter what becomes of your sorry self!

How many American lives have been ruined already with the industries exorbitant costs? Does anyone seriously believe we should, like lambs to slaughter just let this continue?

The Senators and Congressman that perpetuate all these phony fear mongering lies should be investigated and be locked up for their,”Treasonous” behavior! Look at the one’s who have said the most ridiculous things about the health care reform issue. If you follow the trail on each of them honestly what you will find is a strong tie between them and the health insurance industry. That is, to a man the facts!

Why would any rational being, looking at the current state of health care and cost’s in America say anything other than, we can do so much better than this.

Do any of you see any of these myth-perpetuating idiots doing or saying anything that actually helps to improve the system? No not ONE. They spend all their time perpetuate lies that serve the health care industry but do not represent the needs of the American people they were elected to serve!

Like my Daddy said before he passed away this last January, “Son, always remember, it is far easier to tear something apart than it is to put it back together”. He also used to say, ”Your part of the problem or your part of the solution, which are you’?

So, which are you?

I listen to the likes of John Bonyers, Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, John Cronyn, Jim DeMint, Mitch McConnell, Jeff Sessions, Lemar Alexander, Judd Gregg, and the list goes on, and what I find with just a modicum of investigation is that they all have an agenda not at all related to facts, truth or solutions as they relate to health care improvements and you! They have focused all their energies in tearing down any attempt at true Health care reform and spent zero time trying to help in making health care better!

Alarmists they are at best but truly more a scary reminder of the insanity of the McCarthy years. They should all be ashamed of themselves! Go ahead, I challenge any of you to really investigate any of them as relates to their possible ties to the insurance industry and lobby. Let us know what you find.

I tell you what. The insurance lobby and its cronies are counting on an un-informed, scared electorate to defeat any reform that may break their stranglehold on YOUR pocket book. You can take that to the bank!

Baby Boomers; Do They Hold The Answer For Today’s Problems?

No Comments// Posted in Previous TTMYT Articles by Linda on 08.10.09.

I turn 60 on October 31, 2009 and I’m a “baby boomer”. You know, “that generation” that needs to step aside and give someone else a chance.

Only fair… right? That’s what I keep reading…  as of late… I’ve been thinking that this advise is wrong….

We are a formidable group. There are 78 million of us. 8000 of us turn 60 every day and for the next 18 years 4 million baby boomers will turn 60 each year. So what? Why should anyone care about the next 18 years right? Write it off?

You keep hearing that 60 is the new 40. Maybe in some ways this is true. Most of us are healthier than our parents were at 60. We jog, watch our diets, and do yoga. If you’re a healthy 60 year old today odds are that you have (maybe) 25 years left. As I sit and type this article, I think about the last 25 years of my life… let’s see I was 35… and all I can think about is how fast it went! I know if I’m going to change the world, I had better get busy TODAY. I want to leave a legacy… make sweeping changes… live on purpose! In the 60’s very few of us were motivated by money. I think things have changed a bit, but many of us are now motivated by intrinsic rewards. Look at Al Gore (61). He’s changing the world. Bill Clinton (63) being sent to North Korea.  Brilliant!

If you work for the current administration… pay attention to this next part!

Speak to us with no talking heads, no polling numbers, just ask us, make us care, make us believe you need us. I guarantee you will see a rising up of the same energy, enthusiasm, grassroots organizing that transformed the 60’s. You need to hurry because 25 years goes by in a blink of an eye.

Who’s with me?

Can Positive Thinking Change Your Life?

3 Comments// Posted in Previous TTMYT Articles by Linda on 08.06.09.

I was always the type of person who needed to see the negative in a situation in order to prepare myself for the chance that something bad might happen.  It was my way of seeing all angles and playing all possible scenarios out. Why did I do this?  I’m sure it was just in case things didn’t work out. I wouldn’t be surprised, devastated, or unprepared for my fate if I knew all the outcomes.  Of course, if the results were positive… I would be pleasantly surprised!

I must say, in my youth, this approach to life served me (reasonably) well, especially since I am married to a person who never sees the negative… even when it’s necessary.  So, all in all, we did balance out each other.  Although, I happened to observe that my husband was leading a happier life.  He knew I was there to worry and dissect every situation, so he  could relax and go about his merry way smelling the roses and enjoying himself.  I began to feel cheated, burdened, miserable, not to mention, envious of my husband’s unencumbered, joyful existence.  Even though I wanted to change places with my husband I believed that if I abandoned my post and joined him in this positive existence, all hell would break loose. I was convinced that my worrying was warding off  evil; that it served a purpose.

With that said…

Well, I’m here to say this isn’t true.  It took a lot of doing, many failed attempts, much backsliding, but I have finally made it.  I have joined the ranks of positive thinkers and I must say it’s heaven on earth.  When confronted with a situation I take a deep breath, clear my head, and ask myself, “What’s the good here?”  “Why has the universe sent me this situation?”  “What’s my lesson?”  Once I get the answers, and I have to say they usually come, I let it go and move forward.  My life is a lot happier.  My relationships are better.  And when the negative comes, and of course it will, I seem to have more fortitude and resilience because I haven’t wasted so much energy dwelling on all the negative.  The more I lead this existence the more confident I am that I can handle (almost) anything.  The worrying wasn’t really preventing anything… it was just making me miserable.

I still believe that when confronted with a situation everyone needs to be sure to anticipate and be prepared for anything, but instead of lingering over and creating anxiety around the possibility of the result being negative, you prepare as much as possible and then… let it go and concentrate on the good.  It works!  Give it a try!

The question I propose to all of you reading this is, “Do you think positive thinking can make a difference in an situation?”

If You Can Take Advantage Of The System, Should You?

4 Comments// Posted in Previous TTMYT Articles by jamie on 08.05.09.

Welfare, food stamps, paid disability, single mothers…. Y0u know all the programs and there are always 2 sides to every story. When a program enters the limelight the talk is always about where the money needs to or should come from.

What really needs to be addressed is:

“How many people that use these programs are using them without really needing them or even qualifying for them?”

I personally have known AT LEAST 6 people that have “created a problem or situation” to take advantage of these programs EVEN THOUGH they really didn’t have the issue or situation. In some cases, they have “an issue” which by no means warrants assistance, but they somehow turn it into a big enough issue to qualify. Those of us that choose to struggle and make it on our own pay for these programs and never use them.

I have been down and out before, but I found a way out. Times are tough… get by the best you can. Once you are approved for a program that lends assistance… you depend on this assistance. Many have no motivation to get out of the hole or advance because they get used to the lifestyle and then stay in the program until they die or they qualify for a better program.

The mentality is:

If I do nothing and stay poor… I get free money… If I go get a job and make $10 an hour I will be worse off so why bother?

So the question is, “If you can get free money or assistance via these programs… Do you take it?” Does this become a moral question or something we should all accept? If you can manipulate the system by faking an injury, falsifying income,  or getting the necessary paperwork to qualify… Do you take the assistance?

What do you think?

Do You Ever Feel Abandoned By Your Customers?

No Comments// Posted in Previous TTMYT Articles by jamie on 07.19.09.

I say to myself… where is everyone? why aren’t they here? I just don’t understand.

I read on an article about operating a store during a recession. It said that there will be times/days where you feel like you have no customers and then there will be times where you feel like everything is just great! Ok… so great… I never really thought I would be abandoned by them…. But… Today this is how I truly feel. I am confused and wondering to myself…what did i do to drive them away? Do they hate my products now? Do they think we are not providing them with what the need? The list goes on and on and on.

Maybe I am just to young and green of a business owner. I have never experienced this in my lifetime. Has anyone gone through this type of economy? My business was up 80% and now down by 30%. It breaks my heart and yet confuses me so. I am trying to stay full of positivity. We are already past the half way mark of 2009. I know we can make it through the year, but… What if next year isn’t any better? What if the customers don’t return?

Any words of wisdom? Share your thoughts? Feel my frustration?

Can Money Problems Ruin Your Relationship?

No Comments// Posted in Previous TTMYT Articles by jamie on 07.19.09.

The rich get richer and the poor get poorer… So they say..

Well if you have two individuals working towards a life and future together can money come between them?

If you feel you cannot express or talk to your partner about your finances what do you do? I become frustrated inside and then when something happens that triggers all these feelings I explode with anger and distress…

I guess a lack of communication and overspending can lead you into deep financial woes. The real issue is a sense of responsibility and who is responsible for what in a relationship.

Responsibilities – Just like taking your trash can to the curb each week. We have things we are responsible for within a relationship. We have to communicate to see who’s “job” it is to pay the bills each month and who’s “income” the money is coming from.

When you live on your own you do it all, but when you have a partner in life you share these responsibilities and need to have a game plan each month no matter where the money is coming from.

What if the plan fails? Bills pile up and you cannot get ahead? When the money is such an issue you cannot cope, then what do you do?

What do you do? What stories can you share?

Do You Think It’s Fair For A State To Take A Cities Money?

No Comments// Posted in Previous TTMYT Articles by jamie on 07.12.09.

If a state becomes broke what happens? Increase taxes? I OWE YOU’s!

It seems to just keep getting worse… they take away necessities… they add taxes… it never goes away! How much of this mess is due to you and me? What could have been prevented? What is/was greed or bad planning? What is strictly politics? Was it all about the money? It is still about the money, but no one wants to use their own money!

Did you know that for every town/city in certain states that the state government can come into that city’s budget and take huge amounts to cover their own deficiencies?!  For example,  they can take 3 million from parking revenue just because they want it or need it!

How can they do this?  As said previously… it’s not our fault the state is broke. Is it the towns/cities fault the state is broke? Why should the cities suffer cutbacks?

Do you think this is fair? What should be done? How can we prevent loss of our everyday necessities as a community?

Can You Really Work At Home And Make A CEO’s Salary?

1 Comment// Posted in Previous TTMYT Articles by TTMYT on 07.12.09.

I have seen many different advertisements that say you can work at home and make serious money. Is there really a job or position I or you can take that is a real money maker or are these just advertisements? I’m not expecting to make it huge in a week, but if I were to commit to 6 months or a year is there real money in it for me?

If you have a real work at home position or even have a way to make money as my own boss from my living room please share it with me and the readers of this site.

The list below contains businesses and ideas I have tried, but have not made considerable money from, but I know some have. So if you have any ideas, a proven track record, or can give tips on what has already been tried… please share!

I have tried:

- eBay
- Blog / Website

Tell me and show me how to proceed!

Money + Celebrity = Get Whatever You Want

1 Comment// Posted in Previous TTMYT Articles by TTMYT on 07.12.09.

If you have the money and you are a celebrity you pretty much rule your own little country because you can get anything you want. Nothing is off limits including drugs that are suppose to be administered in a hospital. There has been numerous counts of these type of drugs being abused by many that can get them.

It  is sad that these doctors and people are enamored by these “celebs” that they will sacrifice their lives and profession to get into the “inner” circle.

Do you think this will ever become out of control to a point where it will become a major political topic? Is this turning into a larger issue and expanding it’s membership into other high profile cases? Does it only take money to get what you want or can a celebrity take it one step further?

Do you think this is a major problem? Does it encourage people to strive to become a celebrity to become above the law? Does money really buy you anything?

Financial experts keep on lecturing us about the importance of budgeting. Fair enough, without budgeting we can be financially lost. We may earn money but nothing can be seen from us that can attest to our financial gains.

If you really want to budget your money – no matter how small or how big it is, follow these budgeting tips:

• Set your priority. Know what is more important and spend your money on it. Once you get your money, your top priority should be the housing, bills, and food. These things will have to be paid no matter how long you postpone your payment. It is better to pay them right away while you still have the money.

• Stick to your basic needs. Now is not the right time to spend on things that don’t really matter. Before you go shopping, create a list of all that you need. Stick to that list so you won’t be tempted to buy other things.

• Pay all your bills on time. This is to avoid paying late payment charges. When you have bills in huge amount, pay them first. At least you don’t have to worry about huge debts. All the other smaller bills can be paid once all the big ones are already paid.

• Don’t spend more than 75% of your income. Leave the rest as savings which can be used when the need arises.

• When shopping, go for the discounted items. You will still get the same quality as the other products but definitely on a lower price. Also most shops schedule a particular day for their sales. Wait for this day before you shop.

• Give your credit card a rest. It is hard to budget your money if you have a lot of debts to pay for. Credit card can be very tempting. Knowing that you won’t be paying for the items in a month or so can tempt you to buy things that you don’t really need.

• Keep a record of all your expenses. This will help you keep track of where your money goes.

With regular use, budgeting can become a habit. Budgeting can be pretty hard for the first timers but over time, you will get used to it. Budgeting should not be neglected even if you get a pay rise. You should continue to budget your money to ensure that you are able to save.

Is Social Networking And A Blog The New Way To Market Your Business Or Product?

1 Comment// Posted in Previous TTMYT Articles by TTMYT on 07.05.09.

As technology advances there is less need for understanding of the inter-workings or what’s in the box. This is also the case with tested principals and formulas used in many industries. If you know a strategy works, even though you may not understand it or have even created it, you will implement it!

For example; You don’t need to know how your computer works to take advantage of all it’s functionality. Facebook and Twitter allow anyone to be a minor celebrity and a blog is now so easy to set up and use you can up up and running in 30 minutes!

If you are in an industry that you know well and people see you as an expert or at least feel you are very knowledgeable, you can easily generate a following. Your following will take most of your words as fact or at the very least feel what you are saying is great advice. So… if you offer a product and explain to all your readers that this product works or has something to offer, it can be assumed that a good percentage of your readers will purchase this product. This is the same theory behind well known a spokesperson for a product like Michael Jordan for Nike.

Let’s say you have been running your blog for years and have 5000 readers. You have written a short guide or even a book and you offer it to all your readers as a download for $19.95. Even if 25% of these readers purchase your item in the first week, I’m sure you would be happy with that result. You have done this by creating readership, keeping people’s attention, and have an audience that has voluntarily read your words and thoughts on a topic. All this can be done with little to no cost to you. It’s all about building up a readership and the rest will fall into place!

Do you have a product? Do you agree? Are you an expert?
